The International Arbitrator - An Identity Crisis' - James Clanchy FCIArb

In an online event hosted by CIArb’s Thames Valley Branch on 4 November 2020, FCIArb, arbitrator and associate member of Six Pump Court Chambers in London, gave a talk entitled 'The international arbitrator - an identity crisis'.

In his talk, Mr Clanchy asked whether the self-regulating international arbitration community had an inclusive notion of 'self' and whether non-lawyer arbitrators were an endangered species. He called for a wider recognition of the diversity of backgrounds and professions in different communities of arbitrators, which are well represented in the CIArb.
