Scottish Branch Panels

Parties wishing to appoint an arbitrator may reach agreement to the appointment of one of the arbitrators on the Scottish Branch list.

If they cannot agree, and provided that the Chartered Institute is the body agreed in the underlying contract as the appropriate appointing body, or, if appointment is made according to Rule 7 of the Scottish Arbitration Rules, or, the Branch otherwise has jurisdiction to appoint an adjudicator in the particular matter, then an application can be made to the Honorary Secretary for such appointment.

The Panel

How to apply to join the Panel

Those who seek appointment to the Panel require to meet the Criteria for selection to the Panel of Arbitrators and to complete the Application Form for selection.

The criteria comprise a set of prior conditions, and criteria for selection.

Those already on the Branch Panels should note the limit of tenure provisions and the transitional provisions.

If they cannot agree, and provided that the Chartered Institute is the body agreed in the underlying contract as the appropriate appointing body, or, the Branch otherwise has jurisdiction to appoint an adjudicator in the particular matter, then an application can be made to the Honorary Secretary for such appointments.

How to apply to join the Panel

Those who seek appointment to the Panel require to meet the Criteria for selection top the Panel of Adjudicators and to complete the Application Form for selection.

Those already on the Branch Panels should note the limit of tenure provisions and the transitional provisions. The attached criteria became effective on 29 May 2014, so that those on the Adjudicator Panel will require to re-apply to the Panel by 9 May 2019.

The longer transition period for those on the Adjudicator Panel allows those on the Adjudicator Panel who are not currently fellows, to obtain fellowship meantime.

 

The Scottish Branch Panel of Mediators act as mediators in the resolution of disputes.

The Panel comprises:
