Matt is the Chair of the North West Branch. He is the Managing Director of Drake QS Limited. He specialises in providing Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management and Dispute Resolution Services to organisations who operate in the Mechanical and Electrical Services Sector of the Construction Industry. In addition to this, he also lectures at the University of Salford on the BSc Quantity Surveying Undergraduate course.
Nikki Sharp is the Vice-Chair of the North West Branch and member of the Education Sub-Committee. She has taken an active role during her tenure on the committee and organises events including the North West Branch annual dinner.
Alan is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a Chartered Construction Manager with over 30 years of commercial and contracting experience gained within the UK construction industry. He provides commercial support and advice to construction related organisations. I am the Honorary Treasurer for the North West Branch Committee.
Ken is a consulting solicitor at law firm Slater Heelis LLP practising in England and Wales, also qualified in Eire, specialising in the field of construction and engineering. He provides legal support services to a variety of clients in various sectors covering contentious and non-contentious business. He is also an independent CIArb and CMC accredited mediator. Ken is the Chair of the Branch Education Sub-Committee and approved to teach on Introduction courses run by the Institute. He is the author of Cases on the Enforcement of Construction Adjudication Awards published by the Institute.
Andrew joins the committee as a Joint SME and Industry Co-ordinator. He is also part of the Education Sub-Committee.
Bill is an experienced quantum expert and dispute resolver. He brings industry insight gained over three decades in senior positions, with both contractor and consultant organisations.
Chris is a Quantity Surveyor and Director at CCi with over 20 years experience in the civil engineering, building and energy sectors. He provides consulting and expert quantum services in the resolution of disputes through adjudication, mediation, arbitration and litigation. Chris recently joined the CIArb North West Branch Committee.
Darren is a Quantity Surveying Consultant and joined the North West Branch Committee in 2019.
Eamonn is a Quantity Surveying Consultant and expert witness and joined the North West Branch Committee in 2018.
Farhan was elected to the North West Branch Committee in 2018.
Ian is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Project Principle at Mott Macdonald. He has experience as a project and cost manager on a variety of both large and small construction projects in both the building and civil engineering sectors. Additionally, Ian also an accredited mediator. Ian is an ex-Chair of the North West Branch, editor of the weekly Branch newsletter and manages the Branch Twitter account (@CIArbNW).
Katy is part of the Construction & Engineering team at law firm Hill Dickinson LLP having gained experience as a construction claims consultant. Katy is experienced in both contentious and non-contentious areas of construction law working on a wide range of dispute resolution and avoidance matters including adjudication, arbitration, mediation and litigation. Katy is Vice-Chair of the North West Branch Education Sub-Committee and heads up the Young Members Group.
Keith is a director of Byrom Clark Roberts Ltd. He is a Chartered Architect and has also acted as an expert witness for nearly 30 years in claims for Architect’s negligence, building disputes, contractual disputes, accommodation cases, slips and trips and Rights of Light cases. Keith is also an adjudicator. Keith is a past Chair of the North West Branch Committee.
Matthew is the director of Matthew Britcliffe & Co Ltd and is the North West Branch’s Student Membership Co-ordinator.
Michael is a former Chair of the North West Branch, following several years as Hon.Sec. His primary profession is a QS, being also an accredited mediator (CEDR) and registered adjudicator (RICS). Michael is also a chartered construction manager. He has been a corporate member of the CIArb for more than 35 years, a Fellow for more than 20 years. His work is predominantly contractual consultancy, disputes' management and claims-related services and expert witness services, often in oil/gas/power/alternative energy, but with experience spanning all types and sizes of construction works. Substantial overseas experience includes work in Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, Angola, India, the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Singapore and the EC. Michael is the Head Office and Presidential Liaison Officer for the North West Branch.
Michael receives appointments as either arbitrator or adjudicator in construction disputes as well as representing parties in bringing or defending claims. Michael has many years of practical experience in civil, building and domestic projects as engineer and planner.
Paul is the Managing Director of Decipher and was elected to the Committee in 2019.
Peter Ormston is a Quantity Surveyor with more than 30 years’ experience of providing advice on construction disputes and contracts. Peter is the Committee’s Joint SME and Industry Co-ordinator.
Peter is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and practice as an Adjudicator, Arbitrator and Mediator. Peter works for Gateley Vinden Limited and is currently the Convenor for the CIArb’s Mediation panel. Peter is a member of the Education Sub-Committee and the North West Branch’s Mediation Liaison Officer.
Phil is a qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyor and also has a Master’s degree in Construction Law. Phil regularly represents clients in Adjudication, Arbitration and Mediation proceedings and has been appointed Expert Witness and joint expert for quantum matters on numerous occasions in litigation proceedings. Phil was awarded the President’s Prize from CIArb for the best Arbitration Award writing in 2014.
Rabbi Gast is a Fellow of CIArb and was co-opted onto the North West Branch Committee in 2020.
Richard is the past Chair of the North West Branch, and an ex-officio member of the branch following a number of years on the committee. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor providing commercial support to a range of organisations. Richard regularly sits as Arbitrator in Consumer and Commercial Arbitrations. In addition to being an RICS accredited expert witness, he is also approved to teach on Pathway and Introduction courses run by the Institute.
Richard is a Quantity Surveyor with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, and has undertaken additional study to become a Fellow of CIArb.
Rick is a Construction Consultant with over 15 years’ experience in Rail, M&E & Construction sectors.
