On 29 May 2019, CIArb Young Members’ Group (Kenya) held a seminar in cooperation with the Law Society of Kenya through its Young Lawyers Committee at the Panari Hotel in Nairobi. The speakers discussed arbitration and alternative dispute resolution in Kenya and in the region. During the panel discussion, particular importance was placed on the Court Annexed Mediation Programme and the role of the Judiciary in creating a conducive environment for the growth of arbitration in Africa.
All the speakers were Fellows and Chartered Arbitrators of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, including the President of the Law Society of Kenya. CIArb Young Members’ Group (Kenya) remains grateful to the Branch Committee of CIArb Kenya, the Law Society of Kenya, Judiciary of Kenya Court Annexed Mediation Programme Registrars and the Convenor of the Law Society of Kenya’s Young Lawyers Committee for this partnership and looks forward to more similar initiatives in the future.
