On 24 October 2017, members of the Steering Committee of the Kenya YMG paid a courtesy call to the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Commercial Bank Group, Mr. Joshua Oigara.
The Bank has regional units in Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
The delegation was led by Mercy Okiro, MCIArb (Chairperson YMG Kenya) who was accompanied by Nderitu Sam Mbiriri MCIArb (current Vice Chair of the Kenyan Branch), James Ngotho Kariuki MCIArb, and the CEO of the Kenyan Branch Ms. Chebett Koske.
The delegation discussed financial support for the Kenyan YMG in its activities in the coming year as well as possible areas for collaboration, particularly in training the bank’s younger professionals in ADR via the CIArb pathway.
We were especially impressed by the Group CEO’s enthusiasm for YMG efforts and his commitment to ensuring excellence for the Kenyan professionals and youth.

Joint intervention success as Churchill judgment allows the courts to order parties to mediateIn a significant moment for mediation, the highly anticipated Churchill judgment overturns the decision in Halsey, confirming it is not a breach of human rights to integrate mediation into the court process and, where appropriate, to order parties to mediate.
