by Richard Barnes FCIArb - Chair of CIArb's North West Branch.
What a success this annual event was, under the guiding chairmanship of Richard Barnes FCIArb, Branch Chair, but organised and managed yet again with his usual superb aplomb, Matt Drake, Deputy Branch Chair.
Our top table consisted of the aforesaid Dr. Kevin Jones, Mark Hudson, representing the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, Haidar Hussein, representing the Chartered Institute of Building, Adrienne Yarwood, representing the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Mike Yarwood, Jonathan Wood FCIArb, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Institute, and Rachel Wood.
Breaking the usual mould of a speaker from the legal profession, or at least heavily biased thereto, the Branch engaged a doctor of medicine, Dr. Kevin Jones, whose reputation as an after-dinner speaker preceded him. Dr. Jones’ presentation was only loosely (very loosely) connected with his professional background, persistently having his audience in hysterics.
The dinner? Compliments abounded with respect to the food, and the wine was most palatable.
Esprit de corps? Not one single fight ensued the whole evening. Ha ha!
Polishing an altogether excellent annual dinner we had our regular toastmaster who was perfection personified in his scarlet tails and white tie. Thank you Michael.
Don’t miss 2020!
