CIArb’s India Branch launches their Young Members’ Group

We are delighted to announce that the India YMG was launched on 12th September 2018 by Dr. Lalit Bhasin, the directors of the India branch, and in the presence of Anthony Abrahams, Director General of CIArb.

The main objectives of the India YMG are to promote awareness of the CIArb and its work amongst young and aspiring practitioners across India and to conduct activities that are conducive to the professional growth and development of CIArb India’s young members and students.

The committee looks forward to launching various initiatives over the coming months including arbitration awareness campaign events, workshops, vis pre-moots and essay competitions.

Joint intervention success as Churchill judgment allows the courts to order parties to mediate

In a significant moment for mediation, the highly anticipated Churchill judgment overturns the decision in Halsey, confirming it is not a breach of human rights to integrate mediation into the court process and, where appropriate, to order parties to mediate. CMC, Ciarb and CEDR joined forces to intervene in the case, arguing strongly for this outcome.
