CIArb and Expert Witness Institute (EWI) come together in the creation of a joint venture agreement marking the start of joint activities between these two lead organisations in dispute resolution.
The venture will begin with collaborative training courses on the giving of expert evidence and the use of expert evidence in dispute resolution. Future opportunities where the interests of both Institutes overlap represents the ideal basis for future, mutually beneficial, cooperation.
CIArb Director General Anthony Abrahams MCIArb said:
‘With dispute avoidance and dispute management training at the forefront of the CIArb strategy, it was a natural development to work with EWI to train experts. There is a synergy between our Institutes and co-operating with EWI will undoubtedly benefit members of both bodies and drive the ADR profession forward.’
The EWI Vice Chairman Kay Linnell said:
‘The Expert Witness Institute (EWI) continues to strive to act as a voice for the expert witness community with arbitrators, the judiciary and lawyers who use the services of experts by setting standards for expert evidence as a membership and non-profit making professional body to aid in the most effective administration of justice and the early resolution of disputes through fair and unbiased expert evidence. This new venture represents the start of a collaboration which is significant in the UK and worldwide to improve the use of experts in the resolution of disputes.’
