Kiryowa is a Partner at K & K Advocates (Formerly Kiwanuka & Karugire Advocates), a firm he co-founded in 2001, after practicing as a Legal Associate, at Mulira & Co. Advocates.
Kiryowa’s far-reaching and efficacious experience in litigation in the East African Court of Justice as well as all Uganda’s courts of judicature on behalf of both the Government of Uganda and the non-state sector, complimented by his undertakings as an advisory technical resource across the continent and beyond, in numerous sectors and sub-sectors, gives him an exceptional perspective and strident intuition that uniquely positions him as an effective litigator, advisor and negotiator both domestically and internationally.
In addition to being a member of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda Board of Directors and the Makerere University Council, Kiryowa is also a member of Uganda Law Society (ULS), East African Law Society (EALS), International Bar Association (IBA) and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN). Kiryowa was admitted to the bar in 1998, he holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honors Degree from Makerere University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre Kampala. He now also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) Degree in Petroleum Law and Policy (University of Dundee).
Kiryowa has since undertaken a course in Arbitration with The Chartered Institute of arbitrators (ClArb). He is also an Insolvency Practitioner under the Insolvency Act, 2011 since 28th June 2019.
Kiryowa is a Notary Public and a Commissioner for Oaths
Kiryowa has partaken in the Uganda Law Society course on Tax litigation, the Huddersfield Law Society and the Uganda Law Society training on Financial Management, Managing Staff and Partnership, and the Uganda Securities Exchange training in Analysis of Financial Statements. Kiryowa is also trained by the Uganda Law Society on East African Customs Laws, Procurement training and in the Legal aspects of ICT and the law in Uganda, as well as Energy law and Power Purchase agreements.
Kiryowa is an ardent sports enthusiast where he has worked and continues to work to develop young talent. He has served as Chairman Entebbe Club, Vice President and President of the Uganda Golf Union. He is currently the Chairman Board of Directors of Express Sports Club Limited and Express Football club one of the oldest football clubs in Uganda
