Personal bio
With 20 years of experience in the legal industry, I am an Advocate of the High Court for Zambia (AHCZ) with audience in all Superior Courts and Tribunals of record and a Notary Public. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK (FCIArb). I have competencies and experience in litigation and arbitration, both domestic and international, across various sectors and industries.
I both seat as arbitrator as well as act as counsel. I have been involved in complex and high value disputes including construction, mining, joint ventures, shareholder and intellectual property rights disputes, among others.
I have sat as sole arbitrator and as tribunal member in international and domestic arbitration cases under UNCITRAL, and ICC Rules. I am a listed arbitrator of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center; an International Associate Member of the American Bar Association (ABA), and a member of the SOAS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Centre (SADRC) and of the African Arbitration Association (AAA). I currently serve as Committee Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB) Zambia Branch.
My practice areas also extend to international commercial and investment law, public private partnerships, intellectual property, competition, corporate insolvency and business rescue, securitization, conveyancing, and other corporate and commercial matters. My mission is to provide excellent and innovative legal solutions to my clients, while upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
Furthermore, I am senior counsel, and have competencies and experience in civil litigation with particular experience in domestic and international commercial litigation. I have audience before all Courts of Record and Tribunals in Zambia.
Additionally, I am a corporate and commercial advisor, a certified corporate insolvency practitioner, an IP practitioner, a competition lawyer and a notary public.
I have and currently serve in various capacities on the Boards of various local and regional corporates and non governmental organisations. I am the Managing Partner and owner of Kaumbu Mwondela Legal Practitioners, a leading boutique firm in Zambia (http://kmlp.co.zm/ ). Outside the Firm, I am an avid fitness follower and amateur cyclist.
