Arbitration is often seen in reinsurance disputes as well as in large risks insurance, such as space satellite insurance, political risks, financial lines, because it is traditionally considered to be adapted to the complexity and confidentiality needs of these types of disputes. The insurer has often a specific procedural situation in the arbitration process, and the question often arises as to opposability of the arbitration clause, intervention of the insurer into an existing arbitration process, possibility for the insurer to invoke the arbitration clause. Gabrielle is Legal Director Risks and Compliance and DPO (Data Protection Officer) at SIACI SAINT HONORE. Gabrielle has worked in insurance and consulting for 20 years after starting her career at BOLLORE industrial group.
Her main areas of practice are insurance and insurance distribution, corporate and M&A, new technologies and data protection. Gabrielle is also a specialist in compliance and internal control as well as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and BCP (Business Continuity Planning).
Eric Evian is Chairman of CGPA Europe, the European leader in Professional Civil Liability insurance for insurance and financial intermediaries. Before joining CGPA Europe in 2013 Eric was a General Counsel & Public affairs Western Europe of MetLife. He was previously the General Counsel of AXA RE.
Eric Evian is also an arbitrator, mediator and Vice-President of CEFAREA-ARIAS France, an arbitration center specializing in insurance and reinsurance.
Jana is the Director at Deloitte Forensic & Dispute. She is mainly in charge of Dispute services for Central and Eastern Europe. Of Czech nationality, she is based in Paris, France. Jana has led and assisted experts in numerous disputes, including bilateral investment treaties as well as trade litigation.
Jalal El Ahdab MCIArb (Jil Ahdab) is partner at Bird & Bird and heads the International Arbitration department in France. Jil Ahdab acts as counsel, arbitrator or expert and is specialised in international business law, notably with the Arab world and Europe, and more specifically in the field of international disputes and foreign investments. His fields of intervention cover the trade in goods, energy, telecommunications market, port and airport concessions, the construction industry, life sciences and sport.
He is an active member of the International Chamber of Commerce where he sits on the International Court of Arbitration, President of the European Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and vice-president of the IBA Arab Regional Forum. Jil Ahdab is a member of the Paris (France), Beirut (Lebanon) and New York (United States) bars and is fluent in French, English and Arabic.
Alexandre Malan MCIArb is the Chair of the French Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Attorney at the Paris Bar, Doctor in International law, Alexandre Malan is a senior partner at BELOT MALAN & Associés, a French law firm based in Paris dedicated to arbitration and international litigation. He is a specialist in insurance law, distribution and industrial risk.
