CIArb's Southern Branch, Chartered Institute of Building and Blake Morgan LLP jointly bring you a CPD event discussing disputes and how things can go wrong with construction contracts and what can be done to resolve the disputes.
Jess Tresham Partner from Blake Morgan will be speaking on “When an issue goes to court” and Mark Atherton Chairman of CIArb Southern Branch will be focusing on forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution available to the parties when a dispute arises and the potential benefits and pitfalls.
Jessica Tresham partner at Blake Morgan will be speaking on ‘When projects goes wrong and end up in court’. Jessica defends and brings claims in the Technology and Construction Court in addition to advising clients in relation to arbitrations, adjudications, all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution and insurance related issues. She is an elected council member for the prestigious Society of Construction Law and is also a member of Constructing Excellence Hampshire and the Southampton Property Association.
Mark Atherton Bsc(Hons) DipAdj, DipArb, DipLaw, FRICS, FCIArb, Mediator & Barrister (unregistered) will focus on the forms of Alternative Dispute Resolutions available to the parties when a dispute arises and the potential benefits and pitfalls. He has over 30 years' experience working in the construction industry both in the UK and abroad. He specialises in dispute resolution and providing contractual advice and has acted as a Mediator and represented parties in numerous adjudications and arbitrations. He has previously presented talks for the RICS, SCL, CIOB and CIArb Southern Branch.
A hot buffet will be available before the meeting from 6pm.
