Chief Executive Officer of BCSA. David has held the position of Director of Engineering at BCSA for fifteen years. David previously worked at the BRE and he holds a PHD in structural engineering. David is well known to BCSA members for his sound technical and regulatory advice, and he has assisted the membership with key issues including the successful implementation of CE marking and BIM. David oversees many of BCSA’s committees and working groups, and he is Chairman of the BSI committee responsible for the UK’s input into the steel Eurocodes, the Execution standards for structural steel and the CE marking standard for fabricated structural steel.
is a Barrister with Atkin Chambers. She has a broad practice with expertise in domestic and international arbitration, domestic courts, mediation and all aspects of adjudication proceedings. As part of her diverse practice she appears regularly as sole counsel in court, arbitration, mediation and adjudication hearings. Her experience covers the entire litigation process including pre-action protocol, drafting pleadings, settling witness statements and attending negotiations, to preparing for and appearing at applications and hearings, including strike out, summary judgment, CMCs and trial. She has also advised on and acted in appellant proceedings.

Director, Fire Engineering Arup. Alistair has been working in the construction industry for 25 years. He spent 10 of those working as an architectural technician before changing career to become a fire safety engineering consultant. Alistair worked with BuroHappold Engineering for 10 years before joining Arup in 2011. He has completed designs in Scotland, UK, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and has worked with many of the worlds leading architects helping make their visions come to reality and helping shape a safer world.
Starting as a Graduate Trainee in 1989 with Cornhill Insurance, roles included multi-discipline commercial underwriting across all lines and lead to a Business Development role managing a panel of Brokers in the Yorkshire region. After almost 10 years with Allianz, the position of Corporate Insurance Broker was accepted within the Bartlett Group based in Broadway Hall, Leeds. After several roles within the Group, Mark is now an Associate Director in the Corporate Division providing insurance solutions to SME and Corporate clients including within the Real Estate and Construction Sectors. Mark is a Chartered Insurance Broker, Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Member of the Institute of Risk Management.
