Since 1998, adjudication has been the principal system of dispute resolution in the UK construction industry. Despite 20 years’ of decided cases, the number of important issues coming in front of the courts appears to be increasing every year and 2020 was no exception. Against a changing backdrop, it is vital that construction professionals are aware of developments in case law. David Gwillim FCIArb will review and explain the implications of the most recent crop of decisions.
David is a Partner at BDB Pitmans and is a solicitor advocate and solicitor of the Senior Courts. He has over 35 years’ experience in construction law acting for owners, public authorities, private developers, funders, insurers, suppliers, architects and others.
David’s specialisms include construction and engineering procurement, contract drafting, warranties and bonds, insurance and health and safety. His dispute resolution expertise includes arbitration, mediation, adjudication, proceedings in Court and before professional disciplinary bodies such as ARB and the RIBA. He has particular interests in marine engineering and ground conditions.
