Coronavirus Commercial Rent Debt Arbitration Scheme

The Commercial Rent Act introduced a new statutory arbitration process for disputes relating to commercial rent arrears accrued when businesses in the UK were forced to close due to government-mandated Covid-19 lockdowns. As an approved arbitration body, CIArb is accepting applications from parties covered by the Act.

Mediation: UK Ministry of Justice releases summary of consultation responses

Following last year’s Call for Evidence on Dispute Resolution in England & Wales, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has published a summary of the responses they received. Overall, the results demonstrate a high level of support for making greater use of mediation within the justice system, and common themes regarding what may be preventing widespread engagement.
