Students and their coaches from all over the world flooded into Vienna in March for the 25th annual Willem C. International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
Once again CIArb was a sponsoring organisation supporting students who wish to build a career in the dispute resolution field.
Neil Newman, Director of Communications and Membership, CIArb said:
"The Vis Moot continues to be a special event bringing together students, lawyers and law professionals from all continents who have an interest in international commercial law and arbitration. This provides a great opportunity to promote CIArb student membership which is as an excellent starting point for students wishing to pursue an exciting career in dispute resolution. It gives access to our globally renowned qualifications and training and networking opportunities with over 15,000 members in 133 countries”
The winning university was the National Research University Higher School of Economics Moscow (Respondent), who overcame the University of Cambridge (Claimant) in the final – CIArb extends our congratulations to both parties for their commendable achievements.
In commemoration of the 25th anniversary, competing teams were asked to to submit a music video which depicted their preparation process. The winner was Stetson University College of Law with an entry that can be found below.

Significant progress on Advisory Centre for International Investment Law at UNCITRALIn 2017, UNCITRAL Working Group III (WGIII) was launched and was tasked with working on procedural reform of the investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. From 1-5 April 2024, Ciarb participated in the 48th session of WGIII in its capacity as an observer delegate.
