Vietnam course

On 12 & 13 October, CIArb Singapore Branch held an Introduction to International Arbitration Course in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in conjunction with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC). A record 95 candidates attended and a waiting list was operated. The Course Director was Mr Richard Tan, supported by tutors Amanda Lees, Paul Sandosham and Camilla Godman. Thanks to Mr Tony Nguyen (Managing Director EP Legal, Vietnam), Mr Dat Phan Trong (Deputy Secretary General of VIAC) and Mr Richard Tan for all their hard work in making this course a success.

At the same time, CIArb and VIAC entered into an Memorandum of Understanding for future co-operation in training courses in Vietnam. Mr Vu Ang Duong, Secretary General of VIAC commented: "The MOU between VIAC and CIArb is really a remarkable one and as the Secretary General of VIAC, I myself will support with my best for its effective implementation to bring more quality and qualified CIArb training courses to Vietnam for the sake of Vietnam’s lawyer communities in the near future."

Significant progress on Advisory Centre for International Investment Law at UNCITRAL

In 2017, UNCITRAL Working Group III (WGIII) was launched and was tasked with working on procedural reform of the investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. From 1-5 April 2024, Ciarb participated in the 48th session of WGIII in its capacity as an observer delegate.
