The Inaugural YMG Kenya Conference was held on 7th November 2018. The half-day event took place at the Leisure Lodge Beach and Golf Resort in Diani, Kenya. The event was attended by over 60 delegates from all over Africa. The speakers were Dr Mohamed Abdel Wahab MCIArb, Dr Adewale Olawoyin FCIArb, Folake Sadiq MCIArb, Sarah Ochwada, Chinenye Onyemaizu MCIArb and Busola Bayo-Ojo MCIArb.
The speakers tackled various topics from sports arbitration, maritime arbitration, how to get into international arbitration and balancing arbitration with traditional practice amongst other topics. The event culminated with a cocktail reception at the venue and the two-day CIArb Kenya Conference. Organisers of the conference remain extremely thankful to the Global CIArb Chairperson, at the time of the conference, Amanda Lee FCIArb for all the support accorded to CIArb YMG Kenya since its inception as well as the Kenya Branch Committee.

Significant progress on Advisory Centre for International Investment Law at UNCITRALIn 2017, UNCITRAL Working Group III (WGIII) was launched and was tasked with working on procedural reform of the investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. From 1-5 April 2024, Ciarb participated in the 48th session of WGIII in its capacity as an observer delegate.
