Patricia D. Galloway, Ph.D., C.Arb. presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award

CIArb is delighted to announce that one of our distinguished Chartered Arbitrators Patricia D. Galloway, Ph.D., has received the Albert Nelson Marquis  Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who.

Dr. Galloway celebrates many years’ experience in her professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Galloway is an international arbitrator and president of Galloway Arbitration. Specializing in energy and construction matters, she brings with her more than 35 years of experience in United States domestic and international arbitration. She has also provided strategic advice for more than 40 years to boards and senior management concerning governance, management structures and performance and risk management. She currently serves as a board member for Granite Construction, Inc., Pegasus Global Holdings, Inc., the American Arbitration Association, and is an Emeritus board member of SCANA.

A former chief executive officer of Pegasus Global Holdings, Inc., in Cle Elum, WA, from 2008 to 2018, Dr. Galloway was responsible for overseeing the overall strategy of the firm. She also served 23 years with Nielsen-Wurster Group in New York City. Hired in 1981 as a senior consultant, she served in numerous capacities, including senior engineer, executive vice president, president and finally chief executive officer and president between 2001 and 2004. She previously worked for CH2M Hill in Milwaukee as a project engineer, inspector and master program scheduler between 1978 and 1981.

Throughout her career, Dr. Galloway has lectured at Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a visiting professor at her alma mater, Kochi University of Technology, in Japan. She has presented at numerous organizations, was president of Unionville Ranch LLC in Washington, partner of Unionville Vineyards in Ringoes, NJ, and chief executive, board of directors member and advisory board member of Nielsen-Wurster Asia Pacific in Melbourne, Australia.

Significant progress on Advisory Centre for International Investment Law at UNCITRAL

In 2017, UNCITRAL Working Group III (WGIII) was launched and was tasked with working on procedural reform of the investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. From 1-5 April 2024, Ciarb participated in the 48th session of WGIII in its capacity as an observer delegate.
