On 19 March 2019, Anthony Abrahams (CIArb Director General) and Dr Paresh Kathrani (CIArb Director of Education and Training) attended Sultan Qaboos University’s Arbitration Day in Muscat, Oman.
Addressing alternative dispute resolution, Anthony Abrahams delivered an opening speech on the importance of arbitration and its growth in the Middle East. He spoke about the significance of quality ADR training and the global role that CIArb plays.
Dr Paresh Kathrani (CIArb Director of Education and Training) commented that: ‘CIArb offers several courses underpinned by a quality framework. Many of these lead to membership of CIArb. It is currently growing its bespoke and non-membership offering in dispute avoidance, management and resolution, particularly through diverse delivery modes, and looks forward to collaborating with partners in Oman.’

Significant progress on Advisory Centre for International Investment Law at UNCITRALIn 2017, UNCITRAL Working Group III (WGIII) was launched and was tasked with working on procedural reform of the investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. From 1-5 April 2024, Ciarb participated in the 48th session of WGIII in its capacity as an observer delegate.
